I Got laid off, where is God ?

“A thousand shall fall at thy side, 10,000 at thy right hand but it shall not come nigh thee”

Psalms 91:7

This verse is often used to assure the believer that by putting their faith in God and trusting in him completely, they will be shielded from perils of different types.  Furthermore, I have heard it said that if the company you are working for is laying off people that you will not be affected, it will not come to you.  But as we know, there are many true and faithful Christians that did get laid-off or loss their major form of income, so does that mean that this verse is false and that the word of God cannot be trusted, by no means; the word of God is always true and can always be trusted.

What one must realize is that if you are a true and faithful believer in the Lord then God will be true and faithful to you(God is always true and faith even when we are not but that’s for a different blog) and true and faithful to His word that said “all things work for the good to them who are the called according to His purpose”(Romans 8:28).  So, according to this verse, even the things that seem “bad” or not good in my life like the losing of a job or major income, God in His power and might can make that work to my Good.  Let me give you a real life example.  A friend of my, we both attend the same church, lost her job, she got laid-off.  Being laid off, not having work, forced her to go back to school and now after completing her 18 month degree program, she is fully employed and still receiving multiple job offers.  So the scripture is complete and true, it “did not come near her”, initially it may have looked like it did but God was just moving in a way that only He can.

Your Challenge for the day

Examine your life, examine your current circumstance, examine your recent job loss, is God trying to get your attention, is God trying to move you to new heights, is there something that you know you should be doing or taking the “first step on”? I encourage you to be courageous, trust God and walk on faith.
